Learning English

Imagen
Hi everyone! This is the last blog, and I will tell you my experience with English... My experience learning English at university has been positive, as I have managed to see an improvement in myself, reading or listening I have a better understanding than when I started. I still have a lot to learn, but I think that during this semester the blogs have also been very helpful, especially in reinforcing my writing and learning new words that will help me expand my vocabulary. I really liked this dynamic and the topics covered, because as they are more free, I feel that it will help me to better understand the more informal English that people usually occupy, and which is precisely the one that I find most difficult to understand.   The skill I have to work on most is listening because, as I said before, I still don't fully understand when I hear a person speaking fluent English, and not a recorded conversation which is what I was used to hearing at school. I believe that I can impr

My favorite music

Hello, today I will talk to you about my favorite music and try to answer the following questions: 1.What are my favorite music genres? 2.Which is my favorite artist? 3.What role does music play in my life? 4.How often do I listen to music? 5.What is the song I listen to lately? Well, I've never liked to pigeonhole in a musical genre, I feel that limits me, the song list on my cell phone is a very strange mix of musical genres, I can go from punk bands like La polla records and sex pistols to classical music in a matter of seconds. However, I think my favorite musical genres are rock, pop, alternative, punk, indie, and all their derivatives. Those who know me know that Lana del Rey is my favorite artist, but I also really like bands from the 70s, 80s and 90s, such as Pulp, Depeche Mode, The cure, Placebo, Suede, Duran Duran, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Helloween, Danzig, Poison, Alice In Chains, The Smiths, Joy Division and many others. Music plays a very importa

Changes to my study programme

Considering that I have only been in college for a short time, I think the curriculum seems to be fine so far. During this time I have learned many things that I didn't know and that have really helped me in my training as an architect. However, I think the real problem lies in the overload that many subjects demand, especially the workshops. Although this year they separated the theoretical subjects from the workshop, in a normal year that doesn't happen, and many times we students are so overloaded by the workshop deliveries that we leave the theoretical subjects aside, and that is really frustrating. I think the ideal would be to reduce the workload and of course we would also need a strong supervision of the teachers, because sometimes they don't care and continue with the same workload. Personally, the workshop is what I enjoy most about the curriculum, I love designing and putting into practice what I'm going to learn in the other subjects, but I insist that somet

Postgraduate Studies

I'm currently in my fourth semester of architecture at the University of Chile, I love this career and I would love to continue specializing in the subject, it's something I know I will enjoy.  I have in mind a master's degree in architectural design, with subjects that are linked to the study of urban spaces, architecture and mobility. Since design is a fundamental part of architecture, this master's degree would allow me to find better architectural solutions as well as expand my capabilities in designing urban spaces, and also because I believe it's very important to put special emphasis on sustainability and building with a transdisciplinary vision to design better planned cities. I would like to study in Spain or Italy, in an environment with a relaxed lifestyle that allows me to have enough time to focus on my studies and also enjoy the environment that I know I will love since at the same time I could get to know European architecture which is something that

My future job

Imagen
One of the things I love about the architecture career is that there is a great list of topics you can job on, such as design, building, lights, atmospheres, landscaping, history... Currently, I imagine myself working for an office of architecture or maybe creating my own office along with a great team, being a person with enough vision to solve and improve the design to be sustainable and responsible with the environment. Although sincerely the only thing I want is a job that allows me to focus on my own interests, where I can let myself be carried away by my own tastes and offer a good and original service, with a space where I can choose how to train myself.  Sometimes I also imagine myself in a job that is not necessarily linked to building, but to the world of the intangible such as communication or technology through online platforms, the way of doing architecture is changing and I love that.  Of course I would love to travel and get to know the architecture of other places in th

The best concert that I went

The best concert that I went to was when Lana del Rey came to the Lollapalooza festival in 2018, her last visit to Chile had been in 2013 so I definitely had to attend the concert. I arrived around 1.30pm at the Parque O'Higgins to meet my group of friends and we went directly to the Itau stage where Lana del Rey would show. I remember that at that moment the group Damas Gratis was on stage, all the people were dancing quite apart from each other, that's when I saw my chance to get much closer to the stage. Even though Lana's concert was scheduled for 8:45 pm, I was really willing to wait all day to be as close to her as possible, so I started to move forward among the people who were dancing. When the concert was over, people started to disperse even more and when that happened I took advantage for advance. I still don't understand how it happened, but I managed to get to the security fence and be in the front row.  My favorite artist's show was a little late and s
